The Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is one of the smallest dog breeds in the world, originating in Mexico and known for its tiny size, large expressive eyes and lively, alert personality. Despite its small body, the Chihuahua has a big character. It is intelligent, curious and deeply affectionate towards the people it forms a close bond with. There are two main coat varieties: the short-haired Chihuahua and the long-haired Chihuahua. Both come in a wide range of colours and shades and are known for their alert nature, strong attachment to their families and ability to adapt to different homes. Their small size makes them appealing companions for many households, although they still need proper socialisation, patient training and gentle handling. Chihuahua care is relatively straightforward, but dental hygiene, a balanced diet and protection from cold weather when necessary are particularly important. Daily walks, playtime and companionship also help support their physical and emotional well-being. At CocoMartina, we want to help you discover everything that makes this charming breed so special. In our frequently asked questions section, you'll find useful information about Chihuahua characteristics, temperament and care, along with products designed to support their hygiene and well-being, including gentle shampoos, suitable brushes and toys to keep them active and happy.
